Preparation is essential to successful interviewing! The Career Center offers two types of practice interviews to help you prepare for real interviews. We hope that in addition to reading our information on interviewing, you will take advantage of these opportunities to practice.
Person-to-Person Mock Interview
If you have an upcoming interview for an internship, full-time job, or campus position, we encourage you to take advantage of this service. A volunteer will conduct a 30-minute interview with you, and then spend 30 minutes offering you feedback and answering questions. Please call 205.348.8224 to schedule a person-to-person mock interview.
Virtual Mock Interview
Our virtual mock interview service, InterviewStream, allows you to practice interviewing at any hour of the day in any location with internet access and a webcam. If you do not have a webcam, the Career Center provides a private room for InterviewStream users during our office hours. With InterviewSteam, you can select questions related to your targeted position and video tape yourself answering each one. You can watch the recording of each answer immediately to determine if you would like to try again.
If you have not yet begun the interview process but would like to practice and see how you present yourself, we encourage you to take advantage of this service. You can create a free account with InterviewStream and, if you have a webcam and internet access, begin practicing immediately. If you prefer to schedule a time to use InterviewStream in the Career Center, please call 205.348.5848.
